Greetings from snowy and cold New York.
We spent a month in warm and abundant India and we are now back to our lovely life in New York. It is so nice to come home, even if it is cold. I leave next week for Mexico where I will teach my annual Winter Retreat. I look forward to this precious time where we dive deep to renew, restore and rejuvenate our systems.

Last month I talked about how standing and walking with your feet turned out can disrupt the function of your whole body, causing a host of both foot and other structural issues. Healthy feet are important for e v e r y o n e. Do not wait until your knees start to hurt to get your feet into a functional state. This month’s video is a practice video that is a blend of hatha yoga and some of my favorite exercises for bringing integrity and function into the feet. I recommend you do it daily or every other day if you want to see changes.

This morning class is a unique and transformational class that will leave your body feeling aligned, integrated, and strong. This class utilizes movement, yoga, core integration, and balls and rollers to roll out tension and is designed to leave you released, strong and balanced for your day. You will learn techniques that prevent pain and injury, how to release tight muscles and stubborn pains, how to enhance your movement practice with core focused alignment and much more!

This evening class is a healing and transformational class that will leave your body feeling aligned and integrated and your nervous system relaxed and calm. You will shift into bliss using yoga, integrated movements, release balls or a roller to bring your bodies into a state of harmony and balance while building strength and optimal alignment. You will learn fundamental movement sequences for the long-term health and well being of your whole system.

Recipe of the month.


Miso Tempeh, Citrus Quinoa and Green Goddess Dressing

I drool when I think of this incredible dish. It is packed with so much goodness and tastes like heaven.

Simple Miso Tempeh: a perfect snack on its own
3 Tbsp white miso paste (found usually in fridge near tofu at market)
2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp maple syrup (add more if desired)
2 Tbsp olive oil
black pepper to taste
1 package Tempeh cut in half and then cut into logs

Whisk all the ingredients except tempeh together in a medium bowl until creamy. (Bonus: You can use this as a go-to salad dressing.) Place the tempeh logs into the bowl with the dressing and gently cover the logs with dressing. Heat oil on medium high heat and when it is hot,place the logs into the oil. Sear on each side for 3-4 minutes, being sure not to burn the tempeh. Remove and set aside. Save extra miso dressing for future salad dressing.

Citrus Quinoa: so so easy
1 cup quinoa washed well
1 cup orange juice (i prefer fresh squeezed)
3/4 cup water

Bring quinoa, water and OJ to boil. Lower heat to low and cook until ready. Get creative with this one- add shallots, black beans, or sautéed red onion if desired.

Green Goddess: so good, you might eat it all up before serving!
1 garlic clove or more if you like garlicky
1-2 small avocados
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
packed handful of basil
packed handful of cilantro or parsley or both
1/2 cup of scallions chopped
4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
4 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste

Blend or process all the ingredients until well blended. Add water as needed. Lick the blender clean.

Assembly: Be creative for starters! Make a bed of your favorite greens (kale, lettuce, collards, bok choy). Spoon quinoa over it and then lay the tempeh on top. Lay tomatoes on the plate (other ideas include: fermented veggies, sprouts, micro greens, cukes, shredded beets and carrots) and serve the goddess dressing on the side. Meditate on the absolute yum factor of this dish.
